An update on our Givealittle page

An update on our Givealittle page

Thank you to everyone who contacted us to ask questions about our Christchurch Shooting Victims’ Fund. We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of New Zealanders and the world and thank everyone who has given so far.

We’ve updated our Givealittle page to provide as much information as possible about the fund. However, Victim Support wish to make this very clear. This money is NOT for Victim Support’s regular operating costs. All funds will be used to make sure the needs of victims affected by the incidents are met.

There will be many needs that victims have – some financial, some for support, and many other needs too. Direct financial support to victims will absolutely be one of those needs, amongst others.

We’re already working with victims referred to us and making contact with appropriate organisations in the Islamic community to begin using the funds in response to need.

In the meantime, we ask for people’s understanding that we are responding as fast as we can to an evolving situation, and for your patience while we prioritise our focus on those we are supporting.
